Job Description

The Marketing team at the Kennedy Center is a lean group of analytical and creative thinkers responsible for driving ticket revenue and awareness of all Kennedy Center programs and initiatives. The team is passionate about the performing arts and supporting artists while using data and creative thinking to connect them to audiences.

The Center’s Social Impact and non-performance Education initiatives are largely non-revenue generating roles. The Assistant Manager, Social Impact & Education supports the Center’s Social Impact and Education initiatives by assisting in the crafting and implementation of marketing campaigns and strategies that generate awareness, audience attendance, and audience engagement. Key Social Impact programs include the Center’s long-running Millennium Stage programming, Culture Caucus, Social Practice Residencies, Cartography, Arts Across America and more. The Center’s institutional Education programs include Arts Summit, VSA, and ongoing Moonshot Studio activations. The incumbent will collaborate with the Senior Marketing Manager and Marketing Analytics Manager to create both quantitative and qualitative metrics for success in the areas of Social Impact and Education.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans for the Kennedy Center’s Social Impact and Education programming and initiatives. (this permeates every responsibility)
  • Creates, routes and submits event setups for Social Impact and Education programming, including Millennium Stage
  • Creates thoughtfully targeted patron lists for all direct mail, email, and social media efforts, using Tessitura’s extraction function
  • Reports on promotion and engagement for all ticketed and non-ticketed Social Impact and Education events
  • Supports Senior Marketing Manager to manage marketing budgets and attendance projections for all Social Impact and Education activities
  • Collaborates with Asst. Manager, Audience Development to create joint affinity marketing campaigns
  • Occasional evening and weekend on- and off-site attendance will be required     
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • 2-4 years relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field is preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs, with strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel a plus
  • Experience working with CRM systems. Experience with Tessitura a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidates must be local or willing to relocate to the DMV area.
