Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year general office/clerical and/or customer service experience; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience. Experience working with election laws and regulations desirable. Successful completion of all applicable background checks pre-hire and ongoing are required.

This is a technical position that will assist the Director of Operations in the maintenance, security, storage, and deployment of voting equipment throughout Alachua County. It will require the individual to manage large amounts of data pertinent to the success of an election. The individual will primarily work within our Operations Center coordinating with up to five operations technicians through the direction of the Director of Operations. During an election cycle, the individual will be expected to work additional hours to complete their tasks. One may be required to stand for long periods of time or lift up to 50lbs.
Examples of DutiesESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
This is an emergency essential classification. Upon declaration of a disaster and/or emergency, all employees in this classification are required to work.
Registers new voters.
Trains and supervises poll workers at election time.
Types new registration forms; assists voters at counter answering questions relating to eligibility and voter registration procedures.
Receives and tabulates election returns.
Types and prepares the voters list.
Makes name and address changes or party changes.
Marks and maintains voting cards during elections; operates Addressograph, graphotype and adding machine; searches records.
Processes applications for absentee ballots; programs voting machine.
Marks boundary changes when notified to do so; tallies registered voters; compiles statistical reports.
Assists co-workers in answering unusual questions or problems from the general public.
Performs related work as required.

Considerable knowledge of laws, rules and regulations which govern the qualification and registration of voters for special and general elections.
Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and machines used in modern office clerical procedures.
Ability to remain current with Florida election laws.
Ability to type and operate standard office equipment.
Ability to provide the public with specialized information concerning voting and elections procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
