The Alachua County Arboriculture Program is offering a paid internship for students to learn about the County Arboriculture Program and tree planting and tree mitigation efforts around the county. This position is typically limited to 6 months, and would assist the Program during our busiest seasons. Interns gain valuable hands-on experience planting trees, pruning young trees for structure, assisting with volunteers and special events, as well as helping with routine tree maintenance. An intern in this position would become familiar with the planning and operational requirements to develop or implement a tree planting program, in addition to best management practices for tree cultivation. An intern in this position would also earn necessary work experience towards their Arborist Certification eligibility. Hours are between 10 to 20 hours a week and includes some weekdays and weekends for volunteer tree planting events. The work is often weather dependent. The internship requires a minimum shift of 6 hour per workday.
