Pay Details  

The Kennedy Center strives to design equitable compensation programs. The projected pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, and includes a comprehensive benefits package. This is the targeted range of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. This range may be modified in the future. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate’s skills, expertise, and experience as it relates to the position qualifications and responsibilities.  

Job Description    

Parking supervisor will routinely interact with Kennedy Center patrons, other parking supervisors and line staff. Supervisors will provide quality customer service to Kennedy Center customer, be able to think on his/her feet and make expedient decisions, work with industry provided parking revenue control equipment, work alongside employees of other departments within the building and direct and assign tasks to the work force within the parking services department.

Key Responsibilities  

  • Manage and/or have knowledge of all parking facility operations and maintenance.
  • Direct and manage all parking personnel. Assign duties and work within the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. Become involved in the progressive disciplinary process as warranted including issuing written documents of reprimand.
  • Ensure that the parking facility is free of litter and debris, trash containers are emptied, and all parking equipment is functioning properly.
  • Account for all cash collected in the parking facility, prepare supporting paperwork, prepare deposit slips and secure all cash until transferred to a cash courier service.
  • Audit tickets, cash register tapes, and paperwork to make sure cash collection is free of problems and inaccuracies.
  • Oversee the maintenance, inspection, and scheduling of department vehicles
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Key Qualifications     

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in parking operations and facilities maintenance, with preference given to experience in a special event/mixed use parking garage environment.
  • Experience with completing light maintenance type projects is required.
  • Must have strong customer service skills and ability to interact positively with the public.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage a multi-cultural workforce in a union environment.
  • Must be able to work independently, make decisions and problem solve.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and foster a teamwork atmosphere.
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, or emergencies as needed to meet operational needs.
  • Driver's license is required.
  • Candidate must be local or willing to relocate to the DMV area. Relocation assistance is not provided.   
  • Candidate must be willing to work onsite.  
Additional Information 
  • Able to work long hours that generally includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. On call availability might be necessary.
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions including cold, heat, rain, snow and wind.
  • This position infrequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is medium, consistent with working within an enclosed parking garage and in outside traffic.
