PAY AND BENEFITS

Annual Pay Range: $82,084.45 - $103,589.36

Hourly Pay Range: $39.463677 - $49.802579

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

This is a unique opportunity as we are planning to fill three Senior Sustainability Analyst vacant positions as a result of this recruitment! We are seeking three (3) experienced individuals with excellent communication and project management skills to join our team as Senior Sustainability Analysts in Clackamas County's Department of Transportation & Development / Sustainability & Solid Waste Program. If selected for either one of the three positions, you will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing and promoting sustainability, solid waste, waste reduction, resource conservation and education programs and initiatives for Clackamas County. In this role, you will serve as a project manager and use your leadership skills to lead the work of assigned staff, coordinating and prioritizing staff work activities and initiatives.

Each of the three (3) vacant positions leads the work related to solid waste initiatives and has its own unique focus, as shown below:
  • Senior Sustainability Analyst I Business Outreach: This portfolio focuses on business recycling requirements and implementing business food waste collection programs. Projects in this line of work include oversight of the County's Leaders in Sustainability program, leading outreach on commercial food waste collection, and providing technical assistance to help businesses & schools meet their sustainability goals.
  • Senior Sustainability Analyst I Community Outreach: This portfolio focuses on recycling and sustainability community education and outreach. Projects in this line of work include, but are not limited to, overseeing program newsletters, social media, and community events in order to meet DEQ Opportunity to Recycle requirements.
  • Senior Sustainability Analyst I Solid Waste: This portfolio focuses on meeting the Regional Waste Plan's multifamily requirements and managing the County's franchised solid waste collection system. Projects in this line of work include facilitation of Solid Waste Commission meetings, serving as a contact for franchised waste collectors, and overseeing the collectors' reporting requirements, including the solid waste annual fee review.

Required Minimum Qualifications / Transferrable Skills:*
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a sustainability, materials management, waste reduction and/or resource conservation field
  • Lead work experience that may include leading projects, programs or initiatives, or leading the work of others, such as providing daily work direction and/or scheduling, assigning work, checking completed work, and training
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in coordinating and managing projects
  • Experience conducting research, tracking data, and interpreting and generating reports
  • Experience in creating and delivering presentations and/or providing training to groups
  • Experience dealing effectively with customer service inquiries, disputes, and complaints

Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:
  • Experience with sustainability, waste reduction, and recycling program practices at businesses or public and non-profit agencies
  • Experience writing for various audiences including policymakers, the public, educators, and business managers
  • Experience establishing partnerships and relationships with underserved communities
  • Experience working with and establishing new relationships with and within businesses, schools, community groups or other organizations
  • Experience working on initiatives to promote equity and inclusion within diverse groups

WORK SCHEDULE

This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.

Please Note: This position is eligible for hybrid on-site/telework subject to the Clackamas County Teleworking Policy and based on the Department's business needs. The exact amount of on-site/telework and schedule will be discussed with the hiring manager during time of offer. Telework locations cannot be located outside of Oregon or Washington. Washington residents must perform 50% of their time on-site at Clackamas County.

The mission of the Department of Transportation and Development (DTD) is to assist residents and businesses in creating vibrant, sustainable communities through innovative and responsive public service.

DTD is responsible for a broad range of county services involving land use planning and permitting, building permits, county code enforcement, solid waste and recycling, road construction and maintenance, surveying, plat approvals, public land corner restoration and dog services. The county's urban renewal programs also report to DTD.

Sustainability & Solid Waste develops and implements programs and policies that prevent waste and conserve resources, while promote energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable food, greenhouse gas reduction, and pollution prevention.

We work to integrate sustainable practices into Clackamas County's operations, and the support the community's vision for sustainability by administering the county's long-standing solid waste and recycling programs for residents and businesses.

We provide community education to residents, and technical assistance to numerous businesses and workplaces each year that are seeking to recycle more and adopt a range of sustainable practices.
