PAY AND BENEFITS

Annual Pay Range: $36,314.78 - $45,566.98

Hourly Pay Range: $17.459028 - $21.907203

The listed salary range will be increased by a 4.5% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) on July 1, 2023.

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The North Clackamas Aquatic Park seeks a Shift Coordinator to provide excellent customer service to aquatic park visitors, assist with the operations of aquatic programs, services and events and act as a champion for the park's safety program.

This is a highly visible role, working with both patrons and staff in a customer service capacity. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting in the planning and coordination of a wide variety of programs and support services within the Aquatic Park. This role will work to ensure the safety of aquatic park patrons and the efficient and safe operations of facilities, pools and equipment. The selected candidate will also provide clerical support, assist in the training and scheduling of front desk and aquatic staff, and lead the work of others.

This position requires strong customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to be flexible and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The North Clackamas Aquatic Park provides residents with a variety of cost-effective, water-based recreational activities and healthy leisure alternatives in a safe setting. The Aquatic Park offers the community swim lessons, Big Surf recreational swims, lap swimming, and facility rentals.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
  • At least 2 years of experience directly interacting with customers and young children in an aquatic facility.
  • Experience ensuring implementation of safety training programs and compliance with safety procedures and regulations
  • Experience assisting with programs and/or events
  • Experience resolving customer complaints
  • Ability to work early mornings as part of a regular work schedule
  • Must possess current, industry recognized CPR/PR, AED, Blood borne Pathogens and shallow or standard Lifeguard certifications
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history check which may include national or state fingerprint records check
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Driving may be necessary for County business. For position(s) with occasional/incidental driving, incumbents must possess a valid driver's license. Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
  • Experience handling chemicals for pools within an aquatic setting
  • Current CPO (Certified Pool Operator) and/or AFO (Aquatic Facility Operator) certifications
  • Experience working with Automated Logic for facility controls or have taken BASIC controls course work from Clima-tech
  • Experience instructing aquatic exercise classes
  • Lead work experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or related spreadsheet software

TYPICAL TASKS

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Coordinates the scheduling of activities for the facility; assists the Aquatic and Recreation Supervisor in coordinating room and facility rentals within the North Clackamas Aquatic Park for special events, meetings, banquets, birthday parties, and receptions.
  • Coordinates the efficient operations of aquatic park equipment and facilities; identifies and assesses safety hazards within the Aquatic Park; recommends and implements solutions as needed.
  • Utilizes software programs to manage registration and facility bookings; participates in an ongoing public relations program as an active representative of the North Clackamas Aquatic Park.
  • Provides customer service at the front desk and on the phone; assists in the administration of front desk operations, as well as the training and scheduling of front desk and aquatic staff.
  • Performs a variety of clerical duties and functions to promote and maintain effective program services and procedures; enters data from a variety of documents into computer terminal.
  • Responds to and investigates safety related complaints and issues; documents patron complaints, first-aid incidents, staff issues and equipment deficiencies and recommends solutions.
  • Receives, transfers or refers calls to proper sources; provides basic program information relating to department/division services; schedules appointments for clients with appropriate staff member(s); meets and greets the general public and/or clients and directs individuals to appropriate staff.
  • Coordinates and presents aquatic and safety training for patrons and staff; reviews training and course qualifications and makes safety training recommendations.
  • Participates on the aquatic park safety committee; monitors committee schedule and agenda; ensures committee meets state mandated safety committee requirements.
  • Coordinates a shift of lifeguards and swim instructors including leading in-service training, assigning positions on deck, assessing swim lesson participants skill levels and rendering first aid when necessary.
  • Coordinates and instructs private swim lessons.
  • Assists with lifeguard and swim instructor training classes.
  • May perform duties as lifeguard, teach swim lessons and instruct aquatic exercise as needed.


WORK SCHEDULE

This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. This position's specific schedule is:
  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 4:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday and Thursday: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
