PAY AND BENEFITS

Annual Pay Range: $56,889.29 - $71,570.07

Hourly Pay Range: $27.350621 - $34.408687

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

We are seeking a motivated, team oriented, compliance and quality-focused professional with technical expertise, strong communication, and interpersonal skills to join our team as a Transportation Maintenance Technician. This is a unique opportunity as we are planning to fill TWO (2) vacant positions as a result of this recruitment process. If selected for one of these positions, you will work within the County's transportation maintenance and inventory programs, focusing on inspecting and evaluating pavement conditions, traffic control devices, and surface water drainage systems for County roads. As a Transportation Maintenance Technician, you will also be responsible for collecting and maintaining road history and condition data, inventory and location in electronic transportation management systems.

To that end, we are searching for an experienced individual, who is motivated to be a positive and collaborative contributor, demonstrating strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills that will allow us to improve, develop and enhance our operations.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
  • A minimum of two (2) years of related experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience inspecting roads for deficiencies and required maintenance needs
  • Experience reading and interpreting maps, schematics, surveys, plans, locate tickets and street maintenance manuals
  • Experience preparing and maintaining complete, accurate and detailed records

Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience working with an Asset Management System to compile and analyze data
  • Experience using and understanding Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
  • Experience with Street Saver Asset Management System, providing specific road condition reports that include pavement conditions, road inventories and maintenance or repair specifications
  • Asphalt Inspector certification
  • Americans with Disabilities Act Inspector certification

WORKING CONDITIONS

Duties require squatting, kneeling, bending, digging, ability to lower, hold and raise from plank position, and the ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 80 pounds. Duties also involve frequent exposure to fumes, dust, vibration, heat, slippery and/or uneven surfaces, moving traffic, and adverse weather conditions.


WORK SCHEDULE

This position is included in the County's alternate workweek program, working 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.

Please Note: This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on-site work location.
