Current Vacancy Bureau of Planning and Sustainability The Bureau of Planning and Sustainability (BPS) is seeking to fill a City Planner II - Environmental position within the bureau's River, Environmental and Resilience Team. As the City of Portland's long-range planning bureau, BPS coordinates and leads complex multi-agency projects that shape Portland's built environment and the lives of its residents.
The City Planner II - Environmental participates in long range planning projects focused on the integration of natural resource functions into the built environment by incorporating green infrastructure, natural resource protection and restoration into plans and project designs. This requires analyzing issues in the context of complex existing or potential policies and code provisions and explaining the results and recommendations clearly and persuasively. This frequently results in the need for the City Planner II - Environmental to draft or amend policies and regulations. This position works within collaborative project teams and may serve as a project manager or coordinator. The successful candidate will work under the general direction of a Supervising Planner.
This position is on the River, Environmental and Resilience Team. This team both leads and collaborates with other City bureaus in developing plans for Portland's rivers and natural resources; updates to Portland's natural resource inventories, environmental and floodplain policies and regulations (e.g., environmental and greenway overlay zones); and plans to address natural hazards (extreme rain and flooding, extreme heat, wildfires and smoke, landslides) and other resiliency and climate change topics. This group provides technical assistance to BPS and other planning projects.
As a City Planner II - Environmental, you will:
• Coordinate complex planning projects to develop policies, planning recommendations or develop solutions to long- and short-term problems; designs and coordinates projects by identifying problems, determining methodology, setting project goals and objectives and developing work plans and budgets. • Evaluate project proposals or plans for compliance/consistency with applicable codes, criteria, requirements, and regulations. • Research policy issues and conditions; collect information regarding study needs from other sources; conduct and analyze surveys, inventories, and evaluations. • Develop and implement public involvement and outreach processes, with a focus on engaging historically marginalized and underserved communities; prepare written and graphic materials and presentations for a range of audiences. • Facilitate public meetings and workshops; coordinate work with outside groups, inter-bureau representatives and co-workers to discuss issues and develop bureau policy. • Answer questions and provide information and assistance to the public in person, by telephone and in writing; document citizen feedback. • Develop and monitor the work program of technical and community advisory committees, professional service contractors, inter-bureau work groups, and ad-hoc project-specific teams; assist in drafting scope of work documents, requests for proposals, funding proposals, and budget-related documents. • Present project deliverables to the City Council and other decision-making bodies. • Manage professional service contracts and intergovernmental agreements; drafts requests for proposal, contracts, and scope of services; participate in consultant selection process; coordinate and review the work of consultants; monitor work programs and schedules to ensure terms of contract are met and project is completed in a timely manner.

Potential Vacancy Bureau of Development Services The City Planner II - Environmental position at the Bureau of Development Services performs reviews of complex development proposals and plans for compliance with Title 33 Zoning Code and applicable environmental codes, approval criteria, requirements, and regulations. They use their environmental expertise to evaluate development alternatives, seek to minimize impacts to resources and to ensure unavoidable impacts are mitigated. City Planner IIs are expected to exercise sound independent judgment, initiative, and decision-making to develop timely solutions to complex problems. The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
• Ability to engage with issues related to access, equity, diversity, displacement, inclusion, implicit bias, and institutional racism, as they relate to planning. • Experience evaluating, drafting, and explaining land use regulations and policies. • Experience interpreting and applying planning principles, regulations, and procedures to a variety of planning issues, including land use, environmental, and other related topics. • Experience planning projects that integrate environmental quality and climate resilience into the urban environment through development design, green infrastructure, and natural resource protection, enhancement, and restoration. • Experience managing large, complex, and politically sensitive planning projects or tasks. • Experience communicating effectively both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of audiences, including government agencies, the public, appointed or elected officials and decision-makers, businesspeople, non-governmental organizations, and people who speak different languages. Position Summary:

POSITION SUMMARY Launched in 2005, the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI) is a research campaign within the Simons Foundation’s (SF) overall suite of programs whose mission is to improve the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders by funding innovative research of the greatest quality and relevance. The SFARI Grants Administrator is responsible for providing administrative support for pre- and post-award activities to the SFARI portfolio of grants. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES • Runs the RFA process for streamlined award types/RFAs • Provides the first-tier review of activation agreements, financial statements, progress reports, as well as carry forward, no-cost extension, institution transfers and termination requests • In some cases, manages the final-tier review and approval of financial statements • Responds to inquiries from applicants, grantees, and institution administrators and determines responses using knowledge of SF policies and SOPs to inquiries from applicants, grantees, and institution administrators, as well as judges when to escalate inquiries to the Senior Grants Manager, to scientific program staff, or to the SAM Systems Administrator • Implements the grant deliverable reminder and submission process and oversees the tracking of deliverable submission, flagging areas for review and works to resolve issues or escalate to the Senior Grants Manager • Coordinates directly with internal program and scientific managers/directors throughout the grant life cycle • Comprehensively reviews all LOI and full application materials submitted, directly requesting revisions from applicants as needed • Provides administrative support for internal and external grant reviews • Completes annual International Award Verification process to determine grantee institutions are eligible to receive funding, as well as to confirm all personnel on a grant and institution official are not on US Department of Treasury and UN Sanctions Lists, Terrorist Exclusion List, and/or Interpol Notices • Coordinates initial Equivalency Determination (ED) and ED renewal process for international grants compliance process via NGOsource • Helps external users troubleshoot the SF online grants management system, Simons Award Manger (SAM) • Assists in grantee institution due diligence process and review • Prepares deliverable and portfolio analysis reports as needed • Aids in the creation and maintenance of all program templates • Aids in defining, creating, organizing, and updating program policies and processes • Assists with the maintenance of electronic award records in the online grants management system • Manages the grantee publication submission and archival processes • Actively manages competing priorities to balance responsibilities and complete assignments in a timely fashion • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required

This position has primary responsibility for the efficient and effective functions related to the Student Billing process. BRENTWOOD SCHOOL Student Billing and Accounting Specialist
Brentwood School, a vibrant and diverse K-12 independent school, is looking for a full time Student Billing and Accounting Specialist. This position has primary responsibility for the efficient and effective functions related to the Student Billing process. This process includes collections, direct interaction with families regarding their accounts, resolving account problems, posting payments from various sources of origination, processing refunds through the student billing database, adjustments, reconciling various ledger accounts and other actions as deemed necessary by the Controller and Chief Financial Officer. This position will also learn other major functions of the Business Office and serve as a primary backup.
Responsibilities
Manage and organize all processes for student billing, including the recording of tuition and fees, deposits, financial support, and other credits
Prepare journal entries to record monthly tuition billing activities and reconciliations
Assist with annual financial and VA audits
Manage collection of overdue accounts
Coordinate with various departments regarding auxiliary billing: retreat trips, field trips, debate, and fundraising activities
Prepare regular aging reports of student receivable balances and identify emerging collections issues for appropriate action by the CFO
Manage the tuition refund insurance program
Work with the database manager to update and prepare to send out 1,200+ enrollment contracts for the upcoming year
Serve as the re-enrollment liaison to parents/guardians (returning/new) for online enrollment processing
Manage regular communications with families regarding student accounts and respond to account inquiries
Interact with the Bookstore Manager regarding bookstore purchases documentation requested by student parents
Perform monthly financial support assistance calculations on bookstore purchases, field trips/retreats, and additional classroom fees
Perform and maintain the Tuition Collection Service Website, Officials payment website, and Cafeteria software platform
Work closely with the Affinity Groups, setting up yearly funds based on the previous year’s activity, track fundraising events, also including Student Life
Responsible for keeping and tracking usage of Square credit card software

Qualifications
Minimum High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
Three (3) years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities
Preferred knowledge of database administration, accounting systems, customer service, and collections
Experience working in a Business Office setting in an educational environment preferred
Strong financial and analytical skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; capable of drafting and editing correspondence and written materials
Highly professional manner that conveys integrity, patience, and warmth while providing the highest level of customer service
Strong interpersonal skills that lead to the cultivation of relationships with parents and colleagues
Strong collaboration and cross-cultural competency
Ability to effectively manage sensitive and confidential situations with integrity
