Job Description

This key position on the Abiomed communication team is responsible for leading and managing Abiomed’s internal and social media communication.  The ideal candidate loves to write, has an attention to detail, enjoys developing creative communication strategies, can build relationships across a global organization and independently holds him/herself to high standards.

 Responsibilities:

  • Internal communication:
    • Develop and execute campaigns to effectively communicate important internal messaging to a global, multi-lingual workforce in the US, EU and Asia
    • Work in close partnership with communication teammates in Germany and Japan
    • Manage Abiomed’s global intranet sites; frequently developing and publishing new content
    • Serve as editor of Abiomed’s bi-weekly, all-company, global newsletters
    • Measure the effectiveness of internal campaigns and continuously make adjustments to improve results
  • Social media:
    • Design and lead Abiomed’s global social media strategy
    • Manage content development for Abiomed’s social media channels and actively participate by writing posts
    • Continuously monitor social media for engagement opportunities and appropriately engage with physicians and other key opinion leaders
    • Report on analytics and adjust strategy to continuously improve results
  • Overall:
    • Assist as needed with major team projects in areas such as external communications, patient advocacy and video production
    • Liaise with senior leadership in US, Japan and Germany
    • Represent Abiomed with key external stakeholders and customers
    • Be a champion of Abiomed’s Patient’s First culture

Requirements:

  • Excellent writing skills required
  • 5+ years developing and executing communication campaigns for large or medium sized companies, global experience preferred
  • Experience managing social media channels in the healthcare space
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field
  • Experience in the healthcare, cardiovascular and/or medical device industry preferred
  • Ability to work proactively and independently, to seek and incorporate constructive feedback, and to manage and complete multiple tasks on deadline
  • An unquenchable passion for improving outcomes for heart attack patients and making the world a better place
