Job Description


Under the direction of the MCC Director of Sales & Marketing and the SVP of Destination Sales, this position supports promoting and selling the MCC and City of Minneapolis as a premier destination for meetings and events, while achieving room night and revenue goals that positively impact the MCC, local hotels, and the community.


  • Support Director of Sales and Marketing and other NAE’s / Sales Account Executives.
  • Schedule, set-up and take minutes for MCC sales meetings.
  • Assist in the coordination of MCC site inspections
  • Maintain and distribute PFO Status Report
  • Maintain and organize file system for sales personnel
  • Create various report and correspondence utilizing database(s)
  • Prepare and mail sales kits and collateral for sales personnel
  • Special projects for sales personnel
  • Successfully attract and retain events to the Minneapolis Convention Center using effective sales techniques
  • Achieve annual goals as assigned
  • Establish effective working relationships with meeting planners, hotel sales personnel, and other hospitality industry suppliers
  • Actively handle walk-in clients or take phone calls from prospective inside sales clients
  • Assist in drafting team proposals/ power point presentations with clients
  • Attend and actively participate in sales and local industry meetings, as required document client communication in the convention center management system
  • Create accurate proposals and contracts based on client needs. Modify contracts as changes occur also for sales personnel
  • Effectively manage assigned accounts
  • Coordinate all aspects of bid proposals
  • Provides both direct and indirect support of the attainment of the Meet Minneapolis Performance Goals as defined in its contract with the City of Minneapolis.
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality or related field preferred.
  • One year minimum hospitality experience; prefer convention bureau and / or convention hotel experience.
  • Valid driver’s license


  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast pace busy environment with frequent interruptions. 
  • Ability to travel as needed for sales activities.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to implement assigned portions of a sales and business plan.
  • Ability to use general office equipment, computers and standard and specialized software packages.
  • Ability to creatively problem solve.
  • Possess excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
  • Strong desire to meet goals in a competitive environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate quality of business opportunities and identify those best-suited for the facility and community.
  • Familiarity with various forms of social media platforms and their uses as additional ways to connect with clients and promote Minneapolis.
  • Provides both direct and indirect support of the attainment of the Meet Minneapolis Performance Goals as defined in its contract with the City of Minneapolis.
