Job Description

Telamon Corporation is seeking a Deputy Executive Director to oversee the operations of our Workforce and Career Services line of business. Within this line of business, Telamon operates a variety of Department of Labor programs including the National Farmworker Jobs Program, WIOA Youth Services, Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program and other community based programming. This position will lead all aspects of this line of business for the corporation, overseeing operations, participating with the corporate leadership team in strategic planning, ensuring sound financial and management practices, interacting with the Governing Board and directly supervising Directors. The Deputy Executive Director will be expected to:

Analyze operations to evaluate performance of assigned line of business (LOB) and staffs to determine areas of potential improvement, growth, and necessary policy or structural change to meet corporate objectives.

Direct, plan and implement policies, objectives, or activities by LOB to ensure continuing operations, to maximize return on investment and increase productivity/efficiency.

Confer with organization and LOB leaders to discuss issues, coordinate activities or resolve problems impacting departments and the greater organization.

Review reports or requests by LOB leaders to recommend approval or suggest changes for improvement and implementation.

Research, interpret and explain policies, rules, regulations or laws to promote or support interests of the corporation, its employees, customers and other interested parties.

Foster and promote positive business relationships with funding sources and community partners.

Contribute to improved morale and employee engagement by serving as a role model, mentor, coach and motivator to all members of assigned LOB and the greater organization.

Contribute unique ideas and perspectives to process and systems improvement and thus impact the organization and its contributions to the greater good of our communities.

Assumes assigned duties in the absence of the Executive Director.

Signs and executes official documents as designated.

Serves as staff liaison to assigned Governing Board Committees.

Represents the Executive Director and the Corporation at official functions and meetings as required.

Prepare for and present information as industry leader at community meetings or industry conferences.

May oversee operations in the absence of LOB Leader.

This position directly supervises others. This may include participation in the recruitment/selection process for new hires, employee training, onboarding, conducting performance coaching/evaluation, compensation administration, delegation of duties and conflict resolution. Promotes an environment of teamwork and cooperation and is accessible to employees.


A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field of Social Science is required.

Ongoing professional development in technical, administrative and management topics.

Minimum of ten years of experience in a senior management position, to include supervision, with community, social service, education or employment programs.

Must have own transportation, a valid driver’s license, and vehicle insurance.
