Job Description

The Portland Streetcar Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day work assignments and supervision on maintenance and repairs of rolling stock (streetcars), Track (MOW), Signal control systems, and overhead contact wire (OCS). Duties include, but are not limited to, supervising streetcar technicians and utility workers in performance of their work; monitoring employees' work performance and imposing discipline as needed; assigning shifts, tracking parts usage and providing reports. Duties also include planning maintenance, repairs and overhaul of equipment; troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment electrical and mechanical failures; and training employees on techniques, standards and safety procedures for working on the various eclectic, electronic and mechanical equipment. This position will also need to understand and apply State and Federal safety standards applicable to rail operations and must be willing to work nights and weekends to support a 24-hour/day, 7-day/week operation.
