The City of Portland is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Policy Planning & Regional Coordination Supervising Planner within the Portland Bureau of Transportation's Policy, Planning and Projects Group.
Daily work of the position includes:
A successful candidate will have experience directing staff in determining scope and approach of planning analysis including championing inclusive planning approaches with underrepresented communities, exercising independent judgment and initiative in scheduling, assigning, and coordinating the work of staff planners and consultants. This position will also frequently represent the Bureau on interagency committees and involve frequent and complex interaction with a wide range of stakeholders the public, coworkers, and other organizations including facilitating meetings, giving presentations, leading negotiations, and overseeing constituent response.
The City and Policy Planning & Regional Coordination Supervising Planner leads a team of Transportation Planners to develop the city's transportation policy and coordinate with other related bureaus and agencies to guide the planning, investment, and priorities for the equitable growth of the transportation system. This team oversees Portland's Transportation System Plan and leads periodic plan updates, ongoing plan maintenance, and provides implementation policy guidance to departments throughout the bureau. This team ensures coordination with land use policy and planning through the Comprehensive Plan and other legislative processes and coordination with regional planning through the Regional Transportation Plan. This position is the lead representative for the City on the Transportation Policy Advisory Committee and support for the Transportation Commissioner's participation in regional coordination bodies.
