The City of Portland is seeking a Right of Way Agent II in the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT). Right of Way Agents II perform technical work in right-of-way acquisition under general supervision in a team environment and are responsible for negotiating with property owners to acquire easements, dedications, and property for public projects; writing legal descriptions; preparing and recording conveyance documents; managing outside professional service contracts for appraisal and title reports; and, managing the street vacation process between City Bureaus, outside agencies and the public, including presentations to City Council. Additionally, Right of Way Agents II develop and maintain bureau real estate management records, such as database of property ownership; use technological tools to increase productivity and effectiveness; prepare and negotiate lease agreements; research public deed records; coordinate the release of unnecessary easements; and prepare ordinances and Director's reports for City Council consideration. Fieldwork may include on-site meetings with property owners and information gathering at public outreach meetings. Although the current vacancy is in the Portland Bureau of Transportation, other City bureaus may use this recruitment to fill future vacancies.
