The incumbent will advise and counsel students and parents on all aspects of aid programs, eligibility, budgeting, financial planning strategies, and academic progress and shares responsibility for delivering excellent customer service as a member of a team of advisors. The incumbent processes aid applications, packages financial aid, administers aid programs, and monitors student eligibility within the context of federal, state and institutional regulations. Specific duties may be assigned as defined below. The position reports to one of the financial aid Assistant Directors depending upon the advisor’s specific program assignments. The position will be responsible for helping students/parents successfully apply and receive federal, state and institutional financial aid. Responsibilities may include verification, Return to Title IV (R2T4), alternative loan and debt program, quality assurance, direct loan and special programs. The University of Nevada, Reno is the land grant institution for the state of Nevada with a growing student enrollment approaching 22,000 with 35% of our student body from traditionally underrepresented populations. Range 1 Qualifications-Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and one year of experience related to the position or a Master’s degree. Range 2 Qualifications-Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and three years of professional experience or a Master’s degree and two years of professional experience related to the position to include one year of financial aid experience in higher education.
