Supports and enhances computer applications to enable the implementation of simple to moderately-difficult business requirements. Performs specific assignments as part of a project team or works independently on small enhancements and production support assignments. Major Duties: DESIGN/PROGRAMMING • Interprets business requirements for small system enhancements and projects, translates them into detailed design system specifications including process and data flows, screen and report specifications, stored procedures, batch scripts, and batch scheduling specifications. • Develops system components based on business requirements and system specifications, codes, tests, and implements components in accordance with standards and procedures. • Responsible for unit testing components and supporting DEV and QA testing. • Performs design and code reviews for other team initiatives. • Participates and executes integration testing for development efforts. • Participates in providing implementation plans and supports migrations through the various environments. • Responsible for the coordination and implementation of small enhancements and production support fixes from end to end. • Prepares and maintains technical system documentation for system support and other needs ANALYSIS • Participates in the requirements definition and analysis of business needs and detailed system components, including input, process, and output requirements, and data and system flows. • Identifies root cause of problems, provides options for resolution and documents outcome of analysis. • Performs system maintenance services as required by business demands. • Troubleshoots all production problems. RELATIONSHIPS • Interacts with both Business and IT partners to define, understand and evaluate business requirements and resolve production issues. • Provides support in a matrix-management fashion to other areas as needed. PROJECT MANAGEMENT • Provides development estimates for planning purposes. • Provides project status and accurate time reporting. • Manages all technical aspects of small enhancements concurrently through the project lifecycle using the PMO process while managing to a budget, timeline and customer satisfaction and value. LEADERSHIP • Provides knowledge transfer to other technical peers. • Provides technical leadership and expertise to peers on small enhancements and production support. Required Education, Experience, and Skills: Bachelor's Degree and 3 years IT programming experience. In lieu of degree, additional work experience and/or trade school or applicable certifications required. • Good overall understanding of IT Technical Architecture, and knowledge of the capabilities and constraints of small to large-scale, multi-processing computer systems. • Technical knowledge of: SharePoint and (e.g., UNIX/LINUX, Windows/Intel); multiple database technologies, (i.e., Oracle, SQL Server); multiple programming languages, (e.g., VB.Net, ASP, PL/SQL, Java); and multiple batch operating environments (e.g., Unix/Shell Scripting, Windows). • Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) that interact with web applications. • Good Communication Skills - ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and to interact with both Business and IT partners to define, understand and evaluate business requirements and resolve production issues. • Good Customer Service Skills - ability to identify and anticipate customer requirements and needs, and respond to and influence customer expectations. • Good Analytical Skills - ability to gather and analyze information, and draw logical conclusions while identifying the root cause of problems and providing options for resolution. • Programming Skills – Knowledge of programming principles, techniques, standards and analytical ability to develop computer programs and systems. • Project Management Skills – Knowledge of project life cycle methodologies, estimating, and IT best practices with experience managing and implementing small size projects. • Ability to multi-task, juggle multiple projects, and function in a flexible matrix-management environment. • Good working knowledge of industry-standard desktop software (e.g., Windows, Office, eMail, SharePoint, etc). • Ability to provide application support as needed including but not limited to migration windows and overnight on-call support. Position salary: Starting at $37,000 plus 7% annual performance bonus potential
Must be able to work varying shifts between 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
Job Purpose: Under minimal supervision, performs analytical research, using filed and approved regulatory manuals (e.g. Basic Manual, Assigned Risk Supplement) to provide advice on proper classification of businesses and the associated rules that support the classification process, as well as facilitating self-service opportunities and ongoing customer education.
Customer inquiries are received and responded to via phone, email and fax.
Major Duties: Fields inquiries from both carriers and agents for over 600 classifications across 39 states. For each unique customer inquiry, provides the appropriate classification(s) to describe the nature of the business and educates customers on the logic that was used to arrive at that response. Requires adaptation of internal processes based on customer specific requests and/or extensive research of multiple on-line systems. Utilizing extensive knowledge of our organization’s products and services, makes customer recommendations that facilitate self-service opportunities and ongoing customer education. Leads or participates in department projects and initiatives (e.g., research and revise department procedures, participate in process improvement and systems enhancement projects by recommending process and system changes and assisting with testing). Assists with training (e.g., on the job trainer for new hires and develops and conducts presentations in staff, and department meetings).

Job Title: Workers Compensation Field Inspector (Field Underwriter)

Read on to learn about the requirements for this opening. This is a home-based field role in Dallas, Texas Metro area Position requires 80% travel, which will include frequent overnight stays. Territory is North Texas, the State of Oklahoma & part of Southern Kansas.
Job Purpose: Conducts field inspection services to ensure that the workers’ compensation classification system has been applied correctly at the discrete employer level to arrive at the most appropriate premium for a policy and consistency in application for the system. Provides comprehensive technical expertise in the classification system and participates and testifies as an expert witness in support of the Classification System at administrative, non-judicial, or judicial proceedings.
Major Duties: Reviews, selects and prioritizes inspection assignments and schedules inspection appointments. Performs physical inspections by conducting background research on the insured and operations, including reviewing policy details, current classifications, Basic and Scopes Manuals, and any other preparation necessary, such as a list of exception questions, to conduct the physical inspection. Coordinates with any additional external parties as necessary. Develops questionnaire for the physical inspection. Updates all information and metadata in the inspection system. Performs physical inspections of insured operations for the Classification Quality Assurance program or customer requests and then complete the classification inspection report. Travels to the various locations of the insured. Analyzes and identifies issues as it relates to the classification codes based on observations and inspection reports. Reviews and responds to inspection correspondence. Reviews and resolves classification inspection disputes. Serves as the regional expert or resource in classification issues and general industry trends. Assists NCCI staff and regulators with classification issues and provides assistance and testimony in classification code appeals and in support of classification code analysis. Reviews and researches manual, databases on classification system. Responsible for other duties as assigned to include special projects. Required Education, Experience and Skills: Bachelor’s degree and 3 or more years insurance experience in premium audit conducting field audits, classification inspections, audit review, underwriting and/or other relevant field role with 2 or more years in workers compensation experience. In lieu of a degree, High School Diploma/GED and 6 or more years insurance experience in premium audit conducting field audits, classification inspections, audit review, underwriting and/or other relevant field role including 4 or more years workers compensation experience is required. Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of proper audit techniques and standards of audits/inspections. Demonstrated knowledge of compensation infrastructure to include Basic Manual, Scopes Manual, and Classification system. Strong analytical and interpretive skills are needed in order to appropriately determine and assign classification codes based on physical inspection and understanding of insured’s operations. Proficiency with technology including Microsoft based PC environments, tools, and scheduling applications and spreadsheets. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, time management and project management skills. Ability to provide expert testimony at administrative and judicial hearings.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Professional insurance designation is preferred in Associate in Underwriting (AU); Associate in Premium Audit (APA); or CPCU.
