Department Description Perioperative Services provides services for inpatients and outpatients of all age groups. The surgical specialty services consist of the following: Burn, GYN, Pediatrics, Vascular, Cardiac, Neurosurgery, Plastic, Urology, Dental, Oncology, Thoracic, ENT, Ophthalmology, Transplant, GI/Endoscopy, Orthopaedics, Trauma. The Pavilion Operating Room is responsible for providing a clinical setting equipped with progressive technology, providing current practices of surgery, anesthesia and Perioperative nursing.

The Director, Perioperative Business Operations advises the Executive Director of Perioperative Services on strategic planning and provides administrative leadership and direction within Perioperative Services to ensure achievement of the division's strategic and operational plans.
This role develops, monitors and executes long and short term Perioperative strategic plans, financial budgets, informatics support, operational efficiency (key performance indicators) and allocation management measurement for Perioperative Services.
This individual acts as a liaison between UC Davis Health leadership and Perioperative Leaders to create a culture of open communication within a safe and supportive environment. This position implements and maintains the financial and business goals and objectives which assure fiscally viable and optimal service delivery in all areas of Perioperative Services, including the Operating Rooms, Pre & Post-operative areas, Surgical Pre-Admission areas, Central Sterile Processing, GI Endoscopy and Interventional Pulmonary Services.
Areas of direct management responsibility include: Business operations, surgical scheduling, billing and charges, analysis of reimbursement, budget preparation and analysis, surgical materials management and Central Sterile Processing.
This role ensures that all areas operate within the established policies, procedures and in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and guidelines.
The Director, Perioperative Business Operations works to plan, implement and direct ongoing activities within the areas of responsibilities that optimizes fiscal prudence and budgetary compliance; works closely with the Executive Director, Perioperative Services to develop business and operation plans, ensures operational efficiency, productivity and effectiveness of Perioperative Services including the timely delivery of information.
Other responsibilities include effectively managing financial and capital resources, inventory, equipment maintenance and supply acquisitions, analysis of income and expense reports, as well as coordinating related process improvement initiatives to improve efficiencies and achieve financial goals.
Three (3) years recent management experience or equivalent responsible leadership experience
Bachelor's Degree in a related disciplinary field such as Health Administration, Business Administration or Nursing
Management experience and demonstrated skills necessary to be responsible for the identification, monitoring and maintenance of department's financial, human, technical and facility resources
Administrative skills to develop and lead a successful team to oversee the day-to-day operations.
Must possess the management, operational and regulatory healthcare administration knowledge and experience
Master's degree in related field
Five (5) or more years recent management experience in Perioperative Services
Experience leading process improvement teams I knowledge of LEAN
Certifications in related fields
Must be willing to have a flexible work schedule, to accommodate meeting schedules at various locations
