Job Description

Entry Level Bridge / Construction Inspector (New London CT)


Our New London, CT Field Office is seeking a Junior Construction Inspector to support construction activities on Gold Star Bridge Rehabilitation Project. A successful candidate will have knowledge of CTDOT Construction Specifications and concrete construction practices. In this role you will perform construction inspections, materials sampling & testing and administrative activities to ensure compliance with CTDOT requirements and the projects' construction documents.
Additionally, a successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in future Construction Engineering and Inspections services on some of the most significant bridge projects in the United States of America. Typical projects will include signature segmental concrete bridge, long span steel bridges and cable stayed bridges.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Coordinate with contractors' staff, communicating effectively with all parties, and utilize good interpersonal skills
Verify the implementation of contract documents
Produce through inspection reports and maintain detailed records of work performed Produce and maintain punch lists
Apply standard testing techniques and procedures for the verification of materials

Requirements

Experience:

  • A minimum of one (1) years of experience in construction is preferred
  • Experience working on CTDOT projects is preferred
  • Able to read and interpret complex plans, specifications and shop drawings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a heavy emphasis on Excel and Word
  • Able to work at heights (up to and over 150 feet), in confined spaces and marine environments
  • Applicant must have a valid driver's license and clear motor vehicle report
  • Able to lift a minimum of 25
  • Sufficiently fit to traverse stair towers on multiple occasions over the course of the
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work a shift schedule and/or flexible schedule as required to support the workload

Ability to communicate and work in a team oriented environment

 

Education:

  • Four Year Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is required, except for those persons with NICET Level I (National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technology) in Transportation/Highway Construction

 

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License
  • National Institute for Certification in Engineering Tech (Preferred)
