Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.  A valid Florida Driver License is required and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets the requirements of Alachua County policy # 6-7; Motor Vehicle Records will be reviewed prior to employment. If in the past 24-month period, the record shows more than 3 moving traffic violations, and/or a conviction/pending charge for driving under the influence, the minimum qualifications are not met for the position.
 
On-Call will consist of working on an as-needed basis at community and outreach events.

Position Summary

This is communications and outreach-focused work in the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office that involves educating voters, preparing for and appearing at events, and managing election-related educational materials and voter registration applications.
 
An employee assigned to this classification performs a variety of communication and customer-service tasks relating to the outreach activities of the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office. An employee assigned to this role is expected to make routine decisions independently in accordance with established department policies and procedures. 
 
Work is performed under the direction of a higher-level supervisor and is reviewed through conferences, reports and observation of results obtained.

Examples of Duties

Arrives to outreach events and voter education events on-time with required materials, including outreach materials, tables, chairs, and tents, among others.

 Undergoes training at the Supervisor of Elections Office to ensure they fully understand election- and voting-related laws, guidelines, and procedures as they relate to voter education at events.
 
Engages with voters and members of the public in-person at community and outreach events and provides accurate answers to questions. Represents the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office with professionalism, punctuality, and integrity.
 
Performs other related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of election- and voting-related laws, guidelines, and procedures as they relate to voter education at events and demonstrates the ability to learn the methods, procedures, laws, and best practices specific to the Supervisor of Elections.
 
Ability to communicate professionally and clearly with voters and members of the public at events. 
 
Punctuality and reliability. 
 
Ability to maintain detailed documentation and express oneself clearly and concisely.
 
Ability to responsibly manage and transport important documents, including voter registration applications and vote-by-mail request forms.
 
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
 
Ability to push and/or pull fully loaded hand carts; ability to load and unload materials from carts and/or vehicles.
