Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, organize and direct operations of all compensation practices and procedures of the College under the direction of the Vice President, Human Resources.


  • Plan and direct operational requirements in order to comply with College compensation practices.
  • Advise Administrators, Management and HR Partners on compensation policies and procedures as required.
  • Assist HR Partners in development of Job descriptions and/or departmental organization changes to ensure compliance with College compensation practices.
  • Manage the compensation area and develop staff to ensure effective and efficient processes and exceptional customer service.
  • Conduct external market pay comparisons and recommend adjustments in College pay practices as necessary.
  • Verify full-time faculty salary placements in partnership with academic division leaders to ensure collective bargaining agreements are adhered to consistently.
  • Prepare statistical data and reports regarding compensation as needed by College administration, other colleges and government agencies.
  • Participate in yearly compensation surveys as well as conduct annual compensation surveys.
  • Participate in Department of Labor state reporting as required.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving analysis and classification of new and existing positions ensuring proper placement and credibility within organizational structure.
  • Oversee for compliance the process for calculating faculty absence/substitutions reported.
  • Coordinate and deliver with Manager, Employment and HR Systems customized employee information requests and Freedom of Information Requests.
  • Oversee staff to ensure transmission of weekly Illinois new hires report to state governmental agency.
  • Provide input into the maintenance of the Employee Guidebooks.
  • Follow new state and federal legislation concerning personnel law.
  • Participate on various institutional committees as assigned to represent HR function.
  • Manage the coordination of processing pay for all constituency groups as it relates to the HR Department duties.
  • Partner with payroll as appropriate.
  • Review and approve salary placements for all employees providing internal benchmarking in determining offers.
  • Oversee Professional Development benefit administration for all employees.
  • Coordinate changes and modifications to account numbers provided by Grants and Finance Office.
  • Prepare requested analysis and support to Director, Human Resources during contract negotiations.
  • Partner with Manager, Employment and HR Systems and the Payroll department to monitor updates and maintenance of employee data in the College HRIS.
  • Partner with the Manager, Employment and HR Systems to develop and maintain HR procedures related to Compensation processes.
  • Other related duties as assigned.




  • Education


  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Finance or related field required.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certifications preferred.


  • Experience


  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in compensation required.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English required.
  • Proficient in math, intermediate Excel and demonstrated analytical abilities required.
  • Proven data analysis and decision making skills required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with the Hay Group Job Evaluation System strongly preferred; experience in an academic institution a plus.


  • Ellucian Colleague, JDXpert, computer, printer, copier, scanner, calculator and phone.
  • MS Office software including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and Visio.
  • Data extraction software (Decision Analyzer).
  • General office environment.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.


Pay Grade:



Competitive starting salaries are dependent on education and experience. College of DuPage also offers a generous benefits plan.
