Human Resources and Risk Manager
Annual salary range: $135,540 to $184,908 DOE DOQ

The San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District was formed in 1954. Today, the District is not only working towards a resilient water supply but a holistically healthy watershed. A strong workforce is critical to the mission. Therefore, the SBVMWD seeks their first Manager of Human Resources and Risk Management (HRRM).

This role will be the first official Human Resources role at the District. The perfect candidate will be excited about building the HR and Risk function from the ground-up. The ideal candidate will be an experienced human resources professional, skilled administrator, and an active problem solver who can identify gaps in HR services and design programs accordingly. It is critical that the HRRM be able to wear many hats as they will be the only Human Resources professional at the District. The ideal candidate will be adaptive and open to change. They should be able to switch focus quickly and often. This person will be a strong business partner who works closely with the Manager and Department Heads to create and maintain a culture dedicated to best practices and professionalism. This successful candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. They will also be a good writer, highly organized, open-minded, and flexible.

Education and Experience: Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is graduation from an accredited university with a bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or related field; 5-7 years executive level experience in senior-level human resources, preferably in the public sector. Licenses, Certificates & Special Requirements: Possession of an appropriate California driver’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles; Desired PHR, SPHR, CP, CCP, SCP, or similar.
