Job Description

Brigham Young University is seeking applications for the position of a Vice President for Belonging. The University seeks a qualified candidate to lead the effort to increase belonging at BYU. The successful candidate will have experience and demonstrated potential to implement the vision for belonging at BYU set forth in the University's Statement of Belonging, including helping to build a campus community united by our common primary identity as children of God (Acts 17:29; Psalm 82:6) and our commitment to the truths of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ (BYU Mission Statement). We strive to create a community of belonging composed of students, faculty, and staff whose hearts are knit together in love (Mosiah 18:21) where:


  • All relationships reflect devout love of God and a loving, genuine concern for the welfare of our neighbor (BYU Mission Statement);

The successful candidate will also serve as a member of President's Council.


Duties/Expectations: The Vice President for Belonging will provide university leadership that promotes excellence in belonging for all members of the campus community, including students, faculty, and staff and help fulfill the university's mission. The Vice President will oversee efforts in belonging across all units, academic and administrative; participate in university councils at the direction of the President; and manage the operations and budgets of personnel within the Office of Belonging, including the employees assigned to the Office of Belonging.


Education: Masters or PhD level degree recommended.
