Job Description

 

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Business Development Advisor for the Nevada Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Las Vegas, NV. This position provides assistance, counseling and training to small businesses in the startup, expansion, and operating phases of their business life cycles. The Advisor is responsible for contributing to business starts, the creation of jobs, and capital formation for clients. The Advisor assists in all aspects of owning, managing, and operating a small business which includes assisting those that are experiencing difficulties. The Advisor provides expertise for the purpose of business survival and job retention. The individual works in tandem with the other programs of the Nevada SBDC to leverage existing resources and partnerships while continuously seeking new ones. There may be multiple positions located in areas throughout Nevada.

 

Required Qualifications

 

Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of related experience OR Master's Degree and one (1) year of related experience.

 

Related Experience: business ownership and program or business development, i.e., marketing, advertising, international trade or exporting, public relations and/or promotion of small business endeavors

 

Schedule or Travel Requirements

 

Some travel may be required for training or attending program or partner events

Department Information

 

The Nevada Small Business Development Center (Nevada SBDC) program houses its lead center at the College of Business Administration (COB), on the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) campus. The Nevada SBDC operates from university, college campuses, development authorities, and chambers of commerce to provide assistance to the business community in the areas of starting and growing small businesses. Nevada SBDC core functions are small business counseling and training services.
