Key Responsibilities
We seek to recruit a Vice President, Operations (West) who will lead Catapult’s business operations in nine states and oversee the sixteen-state western region. This organizational leader will be responsible for strategy and operationalizing processes and procedures ensuring adherence and commitment to operational, educational, quality and compliance to ensure top operating efficiency across the territory with a detailed focus on growth, invoicing, budgeting, staffing and overall process improvement.

The Vice President, Operations (West) will assume ownership of an extensive geography to ensure regional coordination in the effort to reach Catapult Learning’s goals. With authority spanning multiple functional areas, the responsibilities of the Vice President, Operations (West) will encompass financial management, division growth, organizational effectiveness, workforce management and analysis, quality, and customer service. This individual must be a confident and collaborative leader who will proactively seek to become intimately familiar with key features of all programs, vital relationships, and relevant compliance regulations within the western operations of Catapult Learning. 

Key responsibilities include the following:
Leadership

  • Oversee the western region of sixteen states including program oversight in AZ, CA, CO, HI, NM, NV, OR, UT, and WA.
  • In collaboration with Regional Directors and their staff, manage, grow, improve, effectively deliver, and enhance programs for each state consistent with the strategic plans of Catapult Learning.
  • Effectively and continually communicate the vision and mission of Catapult Learning to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Serve as a role model for establishing appropriate positive morale and attitude towards work.
  • Maintain and further the positive, collaborative, passionate culture of Catapult Learning across western operations.

Financial Management

  • Extensive experience creating budgets for $10M+ revenue businesses and managing all aspects of profit and loss.
  • Consult regional leaders on how to best meet educational goals while maintaining a constant consideration of costs and financial impact.
  • Ensure effective auditing of financial metrics by territory leaders, including strong FP&A partnership.
  • Work with regional leaders to diagnose and address performance shortfalls and challenges to achieving business objectives.
  • Provide consultation to territory leaders on savings opportunities.
  • Provide consultation to territory leaders regarding execution of plans for program renewals.

Territory Growth

  • Serve a central role in the RFP process, in partnership with the sales team.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide on time delivery of new products and services as outlined in the sales process.
  • Proven ability to implement the company’s annual growth strategies in each geography.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Lead operational policies and procedures within territory to improve efficiency through workflow/process redesign, policy or operating procedure change, and/or revision of roles, responsibilities, and/or systems. Ensure compliance with city and state regulations.
  • Oversee the recruiting and hiring processes of all needed staff to fulfill our contractual obligations.
  • Guide and develop regional leadership team for optimal team performance and talent retention.
  • Demonstrate openness to feedback regarding team and personal performance through quick adjustments to their business approach.

Workforce Management and Analysis

  • Ensure regional leaders effectively utilize labor budget to manage workforce, including recruitment, compensation, job design, and scheduling. Partner with regional leaders to diagnose workforce management needs and recommend solutions.
  • Guarantee compliance with state Department of Education accreditation standards and company contract and policy requirements.
  • Intimately understand and implement the terms and conditions of all contracts and proposals for the programs the Regional Directors oversees.

Quality

  • Provide consultation to Regional Directors to assess education quality metrics and implement strategies that will result in EQ improvement.
  • Develop key reports for regional and territory education quality performance and use them to manage education quality performance improvement.

Customer Service

  • Provide consultation to regional leaders regarding successful methods to support Catapult Learning’s Core 4 values – humility, accountability, decisiveness, and transparency.
  • Maintain/strengthen relationships with key customer representatives in territory.

Professional Experience/Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following: 

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in operations management, process improvement, project management and consulting.
  • Service industry experience is required.
  • Prior management and budget experience a must. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and organizational skills. Must have the ability to communicate with all levels of management, as well as outside partners and other stakeholders.

Education

  • A master’s degree in related fields and prior experience working in K-12 education preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.  

Physical Environment/Working Conditions
Other desired qualifications and leadership characteristics include:

  • Physical Environment and Working Conditions: Light lifting, walking, climbing stairs. Most programs are in school settings.
  • Travel: Significant travel across Catapult Learning operations in the western region.
  • Candidate must possess a sense of urgency, ability to work in cross-functional teams, flexibility, and team orientation.

Compensation
Compensation and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
