Job Description The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) is an affiliate of the Kennedy Center. The Orchestra performs approximately 180 concerts a year in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, at Wolf Trap, on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, and on national and international tours. The NSO offers a robust portfolio of education and community engagement programs reaching 20,000 young people annually. The Vice President of Development, NSO, collaborates and coordinates with the Development Office at the Kennedy Center and is responsible for raising approximately $15 million annually in dedicated funds for the NSO through individual major gifts, foundation, government, and corporate giving, as well as through special events. The Vice President of Development, NSO, creates data-driven strategies for diverse, sustainable year-over-year revenue growth opportunities for the NSO. The position oversees a staff of 7 FTEs. The National Symphony Orchestra aims to secure over $50 million in new endowment commitments by 2031, growing our endowment to $100 million by our 100th anniversary. The NSO has secured nearly $20M in new endowment funds since December 2023. This position will oversee this effort in conjunction with the annual fundraising campaign. Key Responsibilities Annual Fundraising Develop, execute, and refine strategies to secure $15M in annual donations, demonstrating year-over-year growth and sustainability. ROLE OF THE DEAN
Appointed by and reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President, the Dean is the College’s chief academic and administrative officer responsible for overall leadership, academic program and research stewardship, management, budgeting, and operations. The Dean serves as the lead in representing the College to the University, its leadership, and to the outside world, including alumni, donors, and stakeholders. The Dean is a member of the Provost's Council of Deans and is responsible for being a productive and collaborative participant in many aspects of institution-wide planning and policy development.
The Dean of Health:
Works closely with COH faculty, staff, students, leadership team, and external stakeholders to identify, track, and respond creatively and productively to emerging opportunities and challenges facing health and human sciences and higher education in general.
Crafts a vision and plan to realize the faculty’s aspirations and the University’s expectation that COH be a leader in research consistent with the College’s academic programs and signature areas, deepening the College’s research enterprise by setting and assessing strategic priorities, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and securing resources.
Oversees the college budget, which has an annual E&G budget of $22.2 million and total annual expenditures of approximately $47M across all fund types. The Dean oversees 15 direct reports, and the College has 215 academic faculty in Corvallis and 35 at OSU-Cascades.

The College of Health offers four main degree programs in Human Development and Family Sciences, Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Public Health. ROLE OF THE DEAN
Appointed by and reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President, the Dean is the College’s chief academic and administrative officer responsible for overall leadership, academic program and research stewardship, management, budgeting, and operations. The Dean serves as the lead in representing the College to the University, its leadership, and to the outside world, including alumni, donors, and stakeholders. The Dean is a member of the Provost's Council of Deans and is responsible for being a productive and collaborative participant in many aspects of institution-wide planning and policy development.
The Dean of Health:
Works closely with COH faculty, staff, students, leadership team, and external stakeholders to identify, track, and respond creatively and productively to emerging opportunities and challenges facing health and human sciences and higher education in general.
Crafts a vision and plan to realize the faculty’s aspirations and the University’s expectation that COH be a leader in research consistent with the College’s academic programs and signature areas, deepening the College’s research enterprise by setting and assessing strategic priorities, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and securing resources.
Oversees the college budget, which has an annual E&G budget of $22.2 million and total annual expenditures of approximately $47M across all fund types. The Dean oversees 15 direct reports, and the College has 215 academic faculty in Corvallis and 35 at OSU-Cascades.

Job Description Summary The Division of Facilities and Real Estate Services (FRES) provides the expertise, business process, policies and standards required to plan, design, construct, operate, maintain and renew the physical assets of the University, excluding the health system. In addition, the Division, comprised of approximately five Departments, is responsible for the strategic planning, management and operation of non-academic University property, and collaborating with the neighborhood to create a safe, diverse and economically vibrant destination. With close to 12M square feet of space, FRES maintains 186 buildings on a campus of 276 acres, completes over 60,000 maintenance requests per year, and starts approximately 250 projects a year. FRES is comprised of the following Departments: Administration, Office of the University Architect, Design and Construction, Real Estate, Operations and Maintenance.
The University of Pennsylvania is implementing a campus transformation entitled Penn Connects (http://www.pennconnects.upenn.edu). This comprehensive, award winning effort is expanding the campus over the next 20 years, including the construction of new academic research and recreational facilities. In addition, the University has secured $300M in Century Bond funding and continues to upgrade existing facilities over the coming years.
Job Description
The Senior Communications Specialist is a marketing and communications generalist responsible for creating internal and external messaging to trustees, administration, staff, faculty, students, community and professional groups coinciding with the strategic goals of the department. Responsibilities include work in the areas of communications, media relations, public relations, marketing and advertising in the form of strategic planning, benchmarking analysis and reports, website development, social media, media relations preparation, advertising, presentations, e-newsletters, and events. This role works closely with the Communications Director at Facilities and Real Estate Services (FRES), in support of and in collaboration with the Senior Vice President, and the teams of Design and Construction, University Architect, Operations and Maintenance, Real Estate and Administration, as well as the Assistant Vice President in the Office of the SEVP, with particular emphasis in the areas of Penn Sustainability, campus development, and FRES operations. They will also serve in a liaison capacity on communications, marketing, event planning and community relations with University Communications, student leadership, professional staff across campus, internal and external organizations.
Job Responsibilities
FRES Communications Projects and Initiatives: Develop, support, and enhance FRES internal and external communications. Support FRES executive staff through creation of talking points, fact sheets, PPT presentations. Assist with event planning as needed. Direct production of FRES Annual Report; Coordinate with staff writer and graphic designer on content, layout, text review, and budget. Manage creation of PPT presentation for division senior vice president for All FRES Annual Update Meeting; Manage FRES content contributions to publications by local organizations and various University departments.
Website Management: manage existing content, create new pages, and develop information on a regular basis for several websites, including Sustainability, Penn Connects, and FRES websites. Review, analyze and modify these websites with University staff and consultants, including documenting, designing, testing, monitoring, and maintaining to meet the needs of users and communicate priorities effectively; facilitate website redesigns and development with outside consultant in coordination with FRES IT and University ISC; work on projects including web-based applications, website and layout enhancements.
Media Relations: Manage inquiries from Penn publications, Daily Pennsylvanian, and external trade publications and higher education media, and others not handled primarily by Director. Strategize and draft responses based on group input, set up interviews. Monitor news clips.
Strategic Planning: Draft or update long-term marketing communications plans that define goals, audiences, tactics and tools and provide direction for activity in several topic areas, including Penn Sustainability, campus development, and FRES initiatives. Draft or update marketing communications plans for specific campaigns of limited duration, with same tactics and evaluation. Assist with oversight of related work with Communications Coordinator.
E-News: manage design, protocol, correspondence and content for FRES and Sustainability e-newsletters several times/year to department and interested constituents with assistance from the Communications Coordinator.
Benchmarking: Monitor metrics on websites, social media, newsletters and advertising. Use data to inform communications, including web and social media analytics, public relations outreach, events, and advertising reach. Provide reports to other FRES departments as needed.
Advertising: Direct print and digital advertising campaigns. Meet with ad sales representatives in regional marketplace to research offerings and build relationships. Make recommendations on ad contracts. Update advertising messages based on target audience and time of year. Manage budget/invoices/payments with property management firm. Work with the Communications team members to redesign advertisements to meet new ad specs. Meet ad submission deadlines. Review reports provided by media groups to determine visibility and measures of success. Redistribute mix of advertising as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree required; Concentration in communications, public relations, media relations, marketing, business, or relevant 5-7 years related experience required; Related experience in design, architecture, urban studies, facilities management, higher education and/or real estate a plus.
Proficient with social media and online content management.
Strong oral and written communications skills required.
Must have great customer service, strong organizational, project management skills and attention to detail.

• Oversee the operation of assigned District-wide programs; • Develop and present reports and recommendations for Board of Trustees, President's Cabinet, Planning and Budget Committee, and others as needed; • Complete and submit required reports to local, state, and federal agencies; • Select and evaluate personnel in the Administrative Services cluster; • Support grant development with the appropriate district department(s); • Lead and participate in participatory governance committees, processes and initiatives; • Recommend institutional policy and supervise development of revisions to existing or new policies and procedures related to Administrative Services; • Assist in the review and implementation of college planning and governance processes; • Develop and present to the Board of Trustees, policy revisions and additions, reports, and action items related to areas of responsibility; • Assist in the development of proposals for negotiations with the classified and faculty bargaining units and ensure that the collective bargaining agreements, as they apply to faculty and staff are implemented correctly; • Assist in the development of proposals for compensation and other adjustments for Meet and Confer employees; • Recommend staff for employment, retention, promotion, dismissal, disciplinary action, and/or leave for staff within Administrative Services department; • Serve on the Superintendent/President's Cabinet, College governance committees, and/or District negotiating teams, as requested by the Superintendent/President; • Represent the District in the community and serve on advisory boards as requested by the Superintendent/President; • Serve as Acting Superintendent/President in the absence of the Superintendent/President; and • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Superintendent/President.
Knowledge of:
• Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); • Principles and procedures of Governmental and Fund Accounting; • Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations; • Applicable provisions of the California Education Code; • State Budget and Accounting Manual; • Understanding of accounting and budgeting principles as related to fund accounting; • California Education Code and Title 5 Code of Regulations; • Facilities planning; • Risk management; • Collective bargaining and labor contract issues; • California Community College funding formulas and resources; • Administrative computing services; • Principles and practices of administration; • State and Federal regulations and statutes related to area of responsibility including: development and administration of the District's budget, facilities planning and management, information technology, general services, public safety, and maintenance and operations; • Communication techniques; • Current technologies, personal computer, and associated office software such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic communication, presentation, and/or database software; • Correct usage of English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary; and • District policies and procedures and board practices.

• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties; and • Demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Physical ability to:

Education:
Required
Master's degree in business, accounting, public administration, finance, or a related area from an accredited college or university;
OR
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, public administration, finance, or a related area and a Master's degree.
Experience:
Required
Five (5) years' of increasingly responsible management experience in high-level administrative positions in business administration or finance. Preferred • Community college management experience.
License and Certificates (current within the last year):
Required
• Valid driver's license and eligible to obtain California driver's license upon hire.

Interview Process Information
Selected applicants will be invited to attend a first interview via Zoom on either Monday, October 14th or Tuesday, October 15th.
Second interviews will be held at the San Luis Obispo campus on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. The interviews will consist of a forum open to the campus community, campus tour, and a final oral interview. Candidates invited to the 2nd round interviews who are traveling from outside of the area will be reimbursed up to $500 in travel expenses.
