Tacoma Water is seeking a Business Writer to join their Employee Experience team. The work performed by this position contributes to the overall mission of Tacoma Water by ensuring that our knowledge assets are documented, curated, and utilized for knowledge management and workforce learning and development. In this role you will assist with assessing, documenting, designing, developing, and writing procedures in the areas of quality assurance, communication and Tacoma Water standards of operation.  

Responsibilities Include:

  • Observe routine and complex job functions working with subject matter experts across all sections and levels of the organization.
  • Document, publish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Tacoma Water that may be synthesized and translated into learning material that is easily understood by end users.
  • Facilitate discussions, provide direction and act as a resource for staff for documenting procedures and other learning materials in coordination with instructional designer.
  • Monitor and control approved channels of mass communication within Tacoma Water in relations to procedures.
  • Work with employees, supervisors and managers to determine priorities and ensure organizations is receiving support in the correct areas.
  • Maintains policy, process, procedure library for departmental reference.
  • Conduct audits of established and documented procedures within Tacoma Water for adherence to standard, accuracy and consistency of application.
  • Lead effort to establish consistency of Quality Assurance (QA) calibration within Tacoma Water and assist monitoring when updates are required for this documentation.
  • At times may need to travel to various job sites to document procedures with staff.

Qualifications

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS (TRAINING AND EDUCATION): 

  • 2+ years' experience documenting business procedures* 
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent related work experience*
  • Proven facilitation, interviewing and technical writing skills
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, interacting with all levels of the organization


 
*Equivalent combination of education and years of experience may be substituted
