Position Outcomes:

Before & After School Multi-Site Coordinators will increase their experience and expertise in coaching and supporting staff through higher level program functions, greater community communication, department-wide marketing objectives, state licensing and training effectiveness. This position will support growth and training in areas of policy development, yearly budget development and financial tracking, work with outside youth-focused and legislative agencies, sustaining and creating partnerships to support Camp Fire’s values-driven work and continued strides to remain focused on racial equity and social justice learning. Bilingual Multi-Site Coordinator will specifically work to address the unique needs of Spanish speaking families and students as well as Latinx staff.

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for supporting Before and After School programs (BAS) and staff through ongoing mentoring, training, and resourcing with a specific focus on Spanish-speaking and/or Latinx families, students, and staff. The Multi-Site Coordinator will provide direct supervision to Site Supervisors to address the needs for daily program operation at assigned schools, and balance an assigned cluster of 4-6 programs. Additionally, the Multi-Site Coordinator will collaborate with the BAS management team to build department budgets, create training opportunities and resources around the state’s Core Knowledge Categories with specific attention to racial equity and social justice, build key relationships with social service agencies and school social workers to partner in outreach and engagement events. The Multi-site Coordinator will work with Site Supervisors to organize and oversee in-service and break programs, Summer Day Camp program, and staffing for all BAS schools.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. This role will come in contact with students, campers, visitors, vendors and employees. Each of these persons may have visible and invisible qualities that makes that person unique. This includes race, gender, age, sexuality, ability, religion, national origin, gender identity, and other identities. This role requires sustaining an inclusive and equitable learning and working environments by having respectful and considerate behavior, thoughtful and constructive speech to all.
  2. Serves as lead coordinator in the improvement and enhancement of services to Spanish speaking families and students and the support and development of Latinx staff.
  3. Oversees clusters of programs to ensure operations are safe, values driven, state-compliant, and promoting culturally responsive, inclusive, anti-racist learning environments.
  4. Creates and adapts a current training resource database, calendars, and partnerships to support the commitment to professional development with attention to the state of Oregon’s Core Knowledge Categories and Racial Equity and Social Justice.
  5. Provides timely feedback to Site Supervisors, conducting scheduled formal reviews, tracking yearly site training hours, and creating an environment that is responsive to the communities Camp Fire is a part of.
  6. Communicates with various stakeholders to increase awareness of Camp Fire Before and After School programs and brand, maintain healthy partnerships with school districts, and build sustaining outside agency connections to support youth, families, and the general surrounding community.
  7. Works with BAS Department Director to identify program locations, build yearly budgets and financial trackers, develop annual plans and identifies areas for departmental growth and success.
  8. Commits to working in collaboration with Camp Fire departments including, but not limited to Teen Programs, Camp, and Communications to better support the mission of One Camp Fire.

Job Duties:

  • Assists the Department Director in developing and implementing after school programs for elementary-aged youth focusing on anti-racist environments, compliance and best practices in youth development
  • Uses Camp Fire’s Equity Filter to address conflict, create trainings, build programs and teams, engage across difference and during all decision-making processes.
  • Supports Site Supervisors to oversee In-service days, Spring and Winter Break teams and Summer Day Camp programs.
  • Hires, mentors, and supervises site-based staff in partnership with Site Supervisors and BAS Leadership Team
  • Assists Site Supervisors in maintaining organized, on-going records as required by the Camp Fire office, state of Oregon Office of Child Care, and School District Partners.
  • Audits ORO training hours with attention to state safety sets, Camp Fire Equity and Emotion Sets, and state of Oregon Core Knowledge Categories
  • Responsible for distributing technology and financial tools associated with program function and staff onboarding such as, but not limited to, printers, computers, site phones, and staff credit cards.
  • Participates as part of BAS team in program evaluations and improvement processes
  • Be a role model for positive youth development practices, youth-adult partnerships and mentoring.
  • Works with Program Director to develop and maintain relevant school and community partnerships.
  • Focuses on building strong relationship with principals in assigned cluster schools and will be direct contact for outside agencies and district leadership
  • Provides clear direction and priorities to direct reports and support them in the development of work-plans achieving success.
  • In accordance with HR policies, conducts frequent informal performance assessment with direct reports, and formal performance assessment annually.
  • Ensures availability to key staff for both structured and more informal, as-needed support.
  • Ensures that high expectations and accountability are balanced by fun, compassion, and support.
  • Supports the mission, purpose and leadership of Camp Fire and projects a positive image of Camp Fire while leading with Camp Fire’s values.
  • Attends Camp Fire meetings and events, as required.
  • Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance and communicates when unable.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Displays excellent communication skills (verbal, written, etc.) required in working with coworkers, volunteers, parents, and contractors; including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
  • Meets regularly with supervisor to discuss past, present and future tasks associated with position and department.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises Site Supervisors and supervises site leadership in supporting all other site staff within the cluster. Supports Summer Day Camp Site Supervisor in district cluster. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, onboarding, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; building in proactive, positive feedback loops with employees and supervisor; addressing complaints and resolving problems with a solutions-focused approach.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree from four-year college or university in Education, Youth Development, or a related field; OR three to five years related experience and/or training in the field of youth development while supervising programs and staff; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working knowledge of youth development and programming using a trauma-informed care approach, including supporting anti-racist, culturally-responsive and best practices in academic enrichment, life and leadership skill development, youth adult partnerships, and mentoring. Knowledge of OCC licensing policies and procedures for managing a licensed child care facility. Previous experience supervising staff and managing day-to-day activities in an after-school program environment that also involves solo teaching, outcome-based lesson planning and current best practices in youth development, and behavior management for program participants.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to speak, read, write and communicate in both Spanish, required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

A valid, insurable Driver’s License is preferred. This position requires a valid Oregon Food Handler’s card, Adult and Child First Aid & CPR certification and maintaining OCC Basic Safety Set Trainings, plus >15 hours of approved professional development trainings per license year. Current enrollment in the Oregon Central Background Registry. Submission of Oregon STEP registry application is preferred and required upon hire.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather). The employee will be required to wear a mask when working as a Site Supervisor in a district building and follow any changing health and safety guidelines including, but not limited to, self-report health checks, hand washing, and potential health exclusions when/if exposed to a positive or presumptive case of COVID-19.
