Bridge / Construction Inspector (Middletown / New London, Connecticut):
Minimum Experience Requirements: At least 2 years employment in civil, highway or appropriate engineering field of which at least 2 year shall be in field inspection activities. A standout candidate will possess considerable knowledge of construction materials, methods and procedures; ability to maintain field and office records; ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations; ability to read and interpret plans and specifications; ability to deal effectively with people. Experience in inspection of heavy civil construction operations such as drilled shafts, pile driving, steel girders, post-tensioning and grouting, nuclear soil density, etc. is a plus. Proficiency with personal computers and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus. Familiarity with Connecticut Dept. of Transportation Site Manager, field documentation and recording procedures is a plus.
Minimum Certifications/Training: NICET Level II Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction is required, except for those persons possessing a current State of Connecticut Professional Engineer's License or a Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in a relevant field (engineering or construction management). ACI Level I certification, NETTCP Concrete Inspector certification, NETTCP Soils and Aggregates certification, and NETTCP Asphalt Paving certification and other will set the prospective candidate apart. ATSSA Traffic Control certifications are a plus. Must be comfortable of working at heights.
