The University of Nevada, Reno is accepting applications for a dynamic Executive Assistant to the Vice President, Student Services. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Vice President for Student Services to manage the overall operation of the Office of Student Services. The Executive Assistant is specifically responsible for managing the Vice President’s schedule, communications, budget and student employees. Duties include answering phone calls in a polite and professional manner and welcoming visitors and identifying the purpose of their visit before directing them to the appropriate department; maintaining comprehensive and accurate records; writing and editing emails; drafting memos and preparing communications on the Vice President’s behalf; managing the Vice President’s calendar, including making appointments and prioritizing the most sensitive matters. The Executive Assistant is also responsible for gathering documents to prepare for meetings and organizing meetings, including scheduling, sending reminders and organizing catering when necessary.
In seeking to build a diverse community for all students, the candidate functions as liaison between the Vice President and classified and professional staff of the division, administrators, faculty, the Nevada System of Higher Education, Nevada Board of Regents, prospective, new and continuing students and parents, and the community at large by providing information, answering requests and receiving the public. This individual acts as the business and personnel manager and confers with the Vice President on a regular basis concerning personnel issues, policies and procedures, budget, and other matters directly affecting the office. This position provides high quality customer service at all times and crisis response when necessary, and conducts training, helps coordinate division and senior level staff meetings, as well as the annual Division retreat and helps conduct division orientation sessions for staff. This position conducts research and prepares detailed reports. This individual hires, evaluates and supervises student employees. The Executive Assistant is a member of the Vice President’s Council which is also comprised of the two Associate Vice Presidents in the Division.
