Minimum Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited two or four year college or university; or at a technical school taking college level courses. Successful completion of criminal history background investigation is required prior to employment.  **UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT $17.00/HOUR**    **GRADUATE STUDENT $17.50/HOUR** 



This is a 200-hour summer internship position in the land conservation program, working with environmental specialist staff conducting land management activities on the 22 Alachua County nature preserves.

This will be a position with flexible hours, intended for two 7-hour workdays (8am-3pm) per week from May 6th to August 17th, 2024. Are you able to commit to this schedule? If not, what schedule can you commit to?

Describe your experience with GIS software, and GPS units and/or Avenza for mapping and field data collection.

In the case that you are qualified to participate in prescribed fires, burn days may run extra-long. Are you able to adjust your schedule for longer field days?

Describe your experience using small equipment (chainsaws, brush cutters, power tools, chippers, portable pumps).

Have you completed S130/190 Basic Wildland Firefighter Training, and the moderate work capacity test (pack test)? If yes, describe any additional experience/training you may have in prescribed fire management.
