Minimum Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited two or four year college or university; or at a technical school taking college level courses. Successful completion of criminal history background investigation is required prior to employment.  **UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT $17.00/HOUR**    **GRADUATE STUDENT $17.50/HOUR**

This position will assist the water resources program, with a focus on community outreach. The following tasks are not exhaustive but represent how a candidate can expect to spend most of their time in the internship:
• Plan and deliver our interactive educational programs in local classrooms, summer camps, and at other events in our community.
• Attend community events, sometimes on evenings or weekends.
• Assist with water quality monitoring which may include groundwater and creeks sampling
• Conduct educational site visits to local businesses and apartment complexes.
• Keep an updated inventory of outreach supplies.
• Keep organized data on outreach impact for reporting.
• Design creative outreach and social marketing materials through software like Canva.
The ideal candidate will be available some weekends and some full day (8am-5pm) shifts with an average of 10-20 hours per week (depending on workload and candidate availability). The end date will depend on the candidate and could extend for years if there is a good fit. Desired skills include public speaking, written and oral communication, excellent organization, ability to work independently and collaboratively, experience in Excel and Microsoft Word, and the desire to perform some work in the field. Experience working with Canva is desirable.

A Valid Florida Driver License is required and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets the requirements of Alachua County policy #6-7; Motor Vehicle Records will be reviewed prior to employment.   If, in the past 24-month period, the applicants Motor Vehicle Record has more than three (3) moving traffic infractions or three (3) or more at fault motor vehicle accidents (or combination of both and /or a conviction/pending charge for driving under the influence) or is in violation of any standard mandated by Federal or State Law or Regulation, the minimum qualifications are not met for the position.
