General Purpose: The Sustainability Engagement Manager is responsible for leading efforts to increase visibility across the student population and engage students in advancing the institution’s sustainability goals. This position enhances collaboration across Yale’s residential colleges and professional schools and contributes to the planning and management of key visibility events such as Celebrate Sustainability and Earth Day. This position may require some evening/weekend hours. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Undergraduate Programming: Manage Yale College Sustainability Liaisons in 14 residential colleges to execute Yale College Sustainability Action Plans. Train incoming students annually, act as a liaison to college Operations Managers and Facilities Superintendents, and coordinate regular reporting on plan goals. Support programming and communications with student interest groups, including management of social media campaigns, student newsletters and related materials. Manage relationships with Yale College Council, Yale Student Environmental Coalition, and other strategic partnerships.
Bulldog Sustainability: Direct student engagement in sustainability with members of Bulldog Sustainability. Train incoming students annually to facilitate programming that engages Yale Athletic teams, act as a liaison to Facilities Superintendents, and support programming and communications.
Professional School Programming: Direct student engagement in sustainability across Yale’s graduate and professional schools. Update and support implementation of sustainability action plans. Facilitate communications across organizations, track and support progress on goals.
Spring Salvage: Manage Yale’s end of the year move-out program, including planning, communications, liaising with residential college leadership, coordination with external donation partners, hiring and management of 30 student workers, and reporting.
Event Management: Support organization and execution of high-profile campus-wide events, including Celebrate Sustainability week in October and Earth Week April. Manage student activities with undergraduate and graduate & professional school students. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in a related field and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
