Serves as Corporate Expert Chief Data Officer (CDO); leads the vision, design, and development of a data and information management strategy, fosters a data-driven culture by communicating awareness and understanding of data needs, objectives, and direction to appropriate stakeholders and users throughout the FDIC.
Ensures an enterprise approach is taken in defining strategies and policies for improving data and information quality, data and information management, integration of data delivery, and leading the development of standards, governance, and best practices across the FDIC. Provides authoritative direction on data and information governance, data design/modeling, data analytics, data science, data retention/disposition and usage.
Responsible for the development and implementation of the FDIC data strategy and architecture. Develops the future state vision for all aspects of FDIC data governance and management and roadmap to achieve the target state. Creates a holistic view of data that reflects the FDIC’s mission and business functions, and process flows. Develops policies, guidelines and standards to support FDIC data requirements and system design specifications for business applications and their underlying infrastructure.
Ensures FDIC’s compliance with federal laws, regulations and policies regarding data management. Collaborates with key stakeholders in the legal, information security, and corporate risk and compliance divisions and offices to take an integrated approach to data compliance requirements.
Develops and communicates data and information management principles that will simplify the data and information landscape, including the sharing and reuse of data for business productivity and cost optimization.
Represents the FDIC data management program to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Government Accountability Office (GAO), and Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and participates in interagency meetings to share knowledge and best practices.
Accesses classified national security information; represents the FDIC at classified inter-agency briefings, meetings, or other external engagements presented in a classified environment.

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience in a government agency (equivalent in the federal government to CG/GS-15 or above) or private industry. Specialized experience is defined as experience leading the development of a data and information management strategy, fostering a data-driven culture by communicating awareness and understanding of data needs, objectives, and direction to appropriate stakeholders and users throughout an enterprise.
