THE POSITION:

The Training and Development Analyst in the Bureau of Development Services (BDS) will work closely with Section Managers to determine the training needs of their employees, and coordinate training course development with those managers, labor management, and external training partners. The Analyst may also participate in recruitment outreach to diverse audiences. The position will also meet the Bureau's expectations of providing excellent customer service in an equitable manner to meet the needs of the City of Portland's community.

Work includes:

  • designing and developing training curricula;
  • coordinating training with internal and external trainers;
  • evaluating training programs; 
  • developing metrics to analyze trainee participation and the usefulness of trainings.

The current vacancy is in the Training & Workforce Development section of the Bureau of Development Services. The BDS Training and Workforce Development Section is responsible for the development and delivery of training for a workforce of over 300 employees. The Section also coordinates outreach, recruitment, interviewing and hiring for the Bureau. Training and Workforce Development currently has five employees.

The following skills are also desired, but not required:

  1. Strong writing and public speaking skills.
  2. Project management training and skills.
  3. Coaching, Mentoring, or Consulting experience.
