Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Chief Administrative Officer holds pivotal internal and external facing responsibilities with a primary focus on operational and administrative functions. These include office and financial management, human resources, technology, performance management, and strategic planning to ensure operational effectiveness and efficiencies. The Chief Administrative Officer will also represent the organization in various capacities and public venues. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 Works directly with ED to oversee implementation of CAC’s strategic plan, scheduling quarterly reviews, and ensures organization meets all deliverables

  • Provides regular support to ED with board and committee meetings; attends board meetings and take minutes
  • Manages the HR function for CAC hiring process and training of new employees, maintenance of staff continuing education records, and coordination of Lunch & Learns
  • Supervises up to one full-time staff member as needed
  • Handles all office-related facility maintenance
  • Manages all non-profit compliance issues including annual charitable solicitation license, Better Business Bureau application, insurance, audit, 990 tax return, board member conflict of interest forms and other tasks related to non-profit compliance
  • Oversees and maintains CAC daily financial procedures at the operational level and coordinates monthly processing with CAC bookkeeper
  • Works with ED and staff to prepare an annual budget, and manage income and expenses to assure fiscal accountability and health throughout the year
  • Coordinates CAC’s Volunteer Program in conjunction with other staff to engage members in policy advocacy, events planning, office support and other initiatives throughout the year
  • Responsible for updating organizational policies and procedures and presenting review of policies during weekly staff meetings
  • Attends and makes presentations at partner meetings to represent Clean Air Carolina
