The City of Portland is seeking a Bureau Personnel Administrator (Administrative Assistant) in the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT).  This role contributes to an internal services team that coordinates, for the entire bureau: personnel administration; leave administration; employee data, organization and position management; hiring processes; employee onboarding and off boarding functions; and other related responsibilities. This position serves as PBOT's Operating Bureau Personnel Administrator (OBPA) and provides both employees and supervisors/managers with technical guidance on a wide range of administrative processes.

The Administrative Assistant is expected to carry out individual responsibilities with initiative, independence as well as collaboration, and exercise sound professional judgment and excellent communication skills. The incumbent will need to function effectively across all levels of the PBOT organization, utilize expert judgment in a wide variety of circumstances, be able to handle confidential information, advise employees and supervisors/managers with fact-based information and recommendations as well as tact and diplomacy, and play a key role in streamlining bureau processes. Experience in SAP is preferred but not required.
