The City of Portland is seeking a Safety & Risk Officer I in the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT). Reporting to the Safety and Training Manager, this position works with Maintenance and Operations managers, supervisors, and staff to ensure safety program requirements are met. Conducts regular field audits to ensure compliance with various state and federal regulations. This position also coordinates required safety training for all work groups within PBOT and provides training to work groups in general field safety areas. Conducts safety training for all new employees. Recruits various training consultants and manages consultant contracts, if needed. Consults with other City Safety Officers on available safety training. Manages the in-house CDL training program. Manages Seasonal Snow & Ice training program. Works closely with Maintenance Operations Environmental Policy and Hazardous Materials Program Manager to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations for occupational health and safety. Serves as key member of PBOT emergency management and Snow & Ice Operations.
