SUMMARY:

Consult and counsel with prospective customers via telephone to sell insurance products.  Utilize understanding of Travelers Personal Insurance products and underwriting guidelines to gather required customer information, evaluate and properly price individual risks.  Represent Travelers in a positive manner to close the sale.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 • Establish rapport and provide a superior customer experience with prospective customers
 • Develop product, underwriting and sales knowledge to counsel and sell available insurance products
 • Solicit all information necessary to produce a quote
 • Develop underwriting exposures and make pricing decisions or recommendations to Underwriter (as appropriate)
 • Represent Travelers in a positive manner  while building customer rapport
 • Expand telemarketing, sales and systems skills, build knowledge of underwriting criteria and guidelines, and increase product knowledge
 • Take inbound and make outbound calls as it relates to the Direct Sales marketing channel
 • Understand the Travelers sales work flow and areas of focus to add customer value
 • Demonstrate strong active listening skills to identify customer problems or objections
 • Handle objections professionally while clearly articulating relevant product and corporate features, benefits, and value to the consumer
 • Achieve and maintain the minimum required quality and underwriting metrics while consistently striving to improve
 • Receive and implement constructive feedback in the form of professional coaching


Job Requirements

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE:

 • Minimum of 2+ years of related experience
 • Prior Call Center experience preferred 
 • Sales experience a plus.  Solid communication skills. Solid computer keyboard skills
