Job Description

Northwest Fire District is pleased to invite qualified candidates to apply for the position of Buyer. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, effective negotiator, and will have experience working with a diverse pool of internal/external customers. The incumbent will perform moderately difficult, professional-level purchasing duties involving a wide variety of materials, supplies, equipment and services. For additional information, please refer to the job description on the District website, www.northwestfire.org.   

Hourly Starting Pay: $16.65 – 17.93 DOE

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Must pass Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) test by October 31, 2013;

AND
 
Meet minimum education, contact hours, and experience requirements upon hire as described in Schedule A, B, C, or D below:
 
  Schedule A
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 96 contact hours in purchasing seminars/courses
  • 5 years total purchasing experience which must include 3 years of public purchasing experience
 
Schedule B
  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • 96 contact hours in purchasing seminars/courses
  • 4 years total purchasing experience which must include 3 years of public purchasing experience
 
Schedule C
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • 48 contact hours in purchasing seminars/courses
  • 2 years total of public purchasing experience
 
Schedule D
  • Advanced Degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • 24 contact hours in purchasing seminars/courses
  • 2 years total of public purchasing experience
